Position Overview
The Club Accountant is responsible for managing and overseeing all financial aspects of the club's operations.
This role involves handling financial transactions, preparing financial reports, managing budgets, and ensuring compliance with accounting standards and regulations.
The Club Accountant plays a crucial role in maintaining the financial health and integrity of the club.
Key Responsibilities
Financial Record Keeping:Maintain accurate and up-to-date financial records for the club, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, and general ledger entries.
Financial Reporting:Prepare financial statements, reports, and forecasts regularly to provide management with insights into the club's financial performance and trends.
Budget Management:Assist in the development of annual budgets and monitor actual performance against budgeted targets. Identify variances and recommend corrective actions as needed.
Cash Flow Management:Manage cash flow by monitoring inflows and outflows, ensuring adequate liquidity to meet financial obligations, and optimizing investment opportunities.
Financial Analysis:Conduct financial analysis to identify areas of improvement, cost-saving opportunities, and revenue enhancement strategies. Provide recommendations to management based on analysis findings.
Tax Compliance:Ensure compliance with tax laws and regulations by preparing and filing tax returns, coordinating with external tax advisors when necessary, and staying updated on changes in tax legislation.
Internal Controls:Establish and maintain internal controls to safeguard assets, prevent fraud, and ensure accuracy and reliability of financial information.
Audit Coordination:Coordinate and liaise with external auditors during the annual audit process. Provide requested documentation and explanations to support audit procedures.
Vendor Management:Manage relationships with vendors and suppliers, negotiate favorable terms and conditions, and ensure timely payment of invoices.
Financial Software Management:Utilize accounting software to record transactions, generate reports, and streamline financial processes. Provide training to staff on software usage as needed.
Qualifications and Skills
Bachelor's Degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
3- 5 years of proven experience working as an accountant, preferably in a club or hospitality setting.
Strong understanding of accounting principles, practices, and standards.
Proficiency in accounting software and MS Excel.
Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
Effective communication and interpersonal skills.
Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team environment.
Knowledge of club operations and industry-specific financial considerations is a plus.
Proximity to the Lagos Island is key
