ICLC is seeking a talented, full-time Staff Attorney to advocate for clients who are at imminent risk of homelessness. The Staff Attorney will work by holistically addressing a broad range of issues that impact housing stability. A key component of the Staff Attorney position is a robust housing law practice, including trial work. The Staff Attorney will perform work in a wide array of areas including federal fair housing litigation, eviction defense, maximizing income through government benefits, restraining orders and limited immigration services. The Staff Attorney will work closely with clients who are living with HV/AIDS and our partner organizations and will bring a whatever-it-takes approach to ending and preventing homelessness.
Hiring Criteria: Membership in the California Bar required unless waiting for California Bar Examination results. Commitment to ICLC’s mission and values. Excellent oral and written communication skills. Organized and detail oriented. Ability to assume responsibility quickly and independently manage an active caseload. Ability to use good judgment, multitask and meet deadlines. Excellent negotiation skills. Ability to build trust and rapport with a wide range of clients who may be dealing with emotional issues, cognitive impairments, or mental illness in a kind, appropriate, and effective manner.
