Summary: The Huston Lab at the Janelia Research Campus seeks a talented researcher to help conduct experiments related to understanding the neural circuits responsible for visual behaviors in the fly. The Huston lab uses electrophysiology, behavioral, and genetic techniques to crack the neural circuits that transform visual inputs into the motor outputs underlying the Drosophila gaze stabilization behavior. You would apply the latest optogentic tools to map the behavioral functions of the neurons in this circuit. This position is ideal for someone who is interested in being part of a team to apply the latest tools to a fundamental question in neuroscience.

B.S., M.S., or Ph.D. in a relevant scientific or engineering field required.
Hands-on experience in at least two of the following areas preferable:
- Confocal imaging
- Animal behavior research
- Drosophila genetics
- Fly brain dissections or similar
- Computer programming (especially Matlab)
Applicants with previous experience working with insect neuroanatomy, sensory or motor systems, or an interest in quantitative animal behavior are especially encouraged to apply. Janelia is an exciting research environment (near Washington, D.C.), with abundant opportunities for collaboration.
