Job Summary
The Medical Records Officer is responsible for collecting patient information, issuing medical files, and processing patient admissions.
Ultimately, ensuring all patient records are current and organized both in the file storage and on the patient application software.
Key Responsibilities
Responsible for collecting new patients 'information and uploading it to the EMR as well as properly filing hard copies of the information.
Protects the security of medical records and ensures that confidentiality is maintained at all times.
Manages the generation, preservation, and retrieval of medical records whenever they are needed.
Review patients' records for completeness, accuracy, and compliance with regulations.
Serves as an advisor on medical records policies.
Maintains a referral tracking system to ensure proper follow-up of patient care referred for outside consultations.
Compile monthly medical statistical reports for statutory bodies.
Ensure elaborate medical records are available for HMO patients.
Ensure the company's bills are sent, follow up, and call the patient when approved.
Answering phone calls & dealing with patients' inquiries.
Performs other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
An Ordinary National Diploma in any Medical Science related course is required e.g. Health Education, Medical Records, Science Laboratory Techniques, Medical Lab Scientist
Minimum of 2 years' experience in a similar role is required.
A sound knowledge of data entry is required for this role.
