Job Summary:

As a Mechanical Engineer I, you will have the responsibility of assisting on various technical projects consisting of the design, fabrication, modification, and evaluation of components involving both mechanical and electro-mechanical devices culminating in high performance, innovative ultrasound systems and accessories. You will conduct technical investigations utilizing a wide variety of mechanical engineering principles in the origination or modification of material, component and/or process specifications and requirements. The role includes configuration control of the projects, both in NPI & Sustaining, using Agile PLM software. You will prepare design specifications, analyses and recommendations for presentation to include refinement of parts with SolidWorks and engineering analyses (stress, thermal, tolerance). Also, you will assist conducting engineering confidence testing and generating relevant technical reports.

Essential Job Functions:

• Assist in implementing mechanical designs for ultrasound systems and accessories using SolidWorks tools
• Support development and/or improvement of NPI processes through active participation in ongoing development in both new and Sustaining areas, identifying opportunities for improvements
• Solve technical issues both as an individual and as a participant on cross-functional teams
• Apply engineering principles to design products and prototypes
• Conduct engineering confidence testing and generate technical reports
• Coordinate with suppliers of outsourced components to clarify requirements, review drawings and assist with manufacturing input
• Prioritize work and break down assignments into tasks that can be organized and executed to meet assignment performance and time goals
• Create and maintain product Bill of Materials (BoM) for one or more projects

Knowledge and Experience:

• BS mechanical engineering
• Experience with SolidWorks software including surfacing tools
• Internship experience in a related position a plus
• Hands on machine shop experience a plus
• Experience with injection molded plastic parts, rapid prototyping processes, sheet metal, and die castings strongly preferred
• Experience in a medical device development environment or other regulated industry preferred
