Job Description

You will be the one to coordinate personnel and processes to achieve the effective distribution of goods.

A great asset for a Logistics Coordinator is their communication and negotiation skills.

They are also well-versed in supply management principles and practices.

The ideal candidate will have great record-keeping abilities and a customer-oriented approach.

The goal is to ensure the smooth operations of a variety of channels aiming for maximum efficiency.

Responsibilities

Coordinate and monitor supply chain operations.

Liaise and negotiate with customers and suppliers.

Develop business by gaining new contracts, analysing logistical problems and producing new solutions.

understand, work with and possibly help to develop e-commerce.

Ensure premises, assets and communication ways are used effectively.

Utilize logistics IT to optimize procedures.

Recruit and coordinate logistics staff (e.g. truck drivers) according to availabilities and requirements.

Supervise orders and arrange stocking of raw materials and equipment to ensure they meet needs.

Communicate with suppliers, retailers, customers etc. to achieve profitable deals and mutual satisfaction.

Plan and track the shipment of final products according to customer requirements.

Keep logs and records of warehouse stock, executed orders etc.

Prepare accurate reports for upper management.

Continually try to improve and develop business performance within the constraints of legislation, fuel costs and rising environmental pressures.

Implement health and safety procedures.

Manage staff training issues.

Motivate other members of the team.

Set objectives.

Plan and manage projects.

Work on new supply strategies.

Investigate and plan the most appropriate route for a shipment, taking into account the perishable or hazardous nature of goods, cost, transit time, and security

Arrange appropriate packing, taking into account the climate, terrain, weight, cost, and nature of goods and also the delivery and warehousing of goods at their final destination

Negotiate contracts, transportation, and handling costs

Obtain, check, and prepare documentation to meet customs and insurance requirements, packing specifications, and compliance with other countries' regulations and fiscal regimes

Offer consolidation services by air, sea, and road, ensuring cost-effective and secure solutions to small shippers who have insufficient cargo to require their own dedicated units

Arrange insurance and assist the client in the event of a claim

Offer tailored IT solutions and electronic data interchange (EDI) connections

Arrange payment of freight and other charges or collection of payment on behalf of the client

Utilize e-commerce, internet technology, and satellite systems to enable real-time tracking of goods

Arrange air transport for urgent and high-value freight and manage the risk door-to-door

Act as a broker in customs negotiations worldwide to guide freight efficiently through complex procedures

Deal with special arrangements for transporting delicate cargoes, such as livestock, food, and medical supplies

Arrange courier and specialist hand-carry services

Maintain communication and control through all phases of the journey, including the production of management reports and statistical and unit-cost analysis

Maintain current knowledge of relevant legislation, political situations, and other factors that could affect the movement of freight

Manage staff or oversee specialist activities - usually at a senior level.

Requirements and Skills

B.Sc/HND in Business Administration, Supply Chain Management or relevant field.

Proven experience as a logistics coordinator.

Experience in customer service will be appreciated.

Ability to work with little supervision and track multiple processes.

Computer-savvy with a working knowledge of logistics software (ERP).

Outstanding organizational and coordination abilities.

Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
