Location: Ibadan, Oyo

Job type: Contract

Duration: 1-year renewable contract

Duties

Assist with set up and maintenance of pathology phenotyping trials in the laboratory, screen house and field.

Carry out nematode cultures using carrot discs.

Assist with Pseudocercospora sp. mass production and detached leaf assays.

Populate and maintain the populations of the banana weevil cosmopolites sordidus.

Supervise casual workers for implementation of assigned tasks.

Perform any other job-related duties as may be assigned by the supervisor.

Requirements

Qualifications:

O’level with a minimum of three (3) years’ experience performing a similar role in a well-structured environment.

Competencies:

The ideal candidate must:

Have excellent interpersonal and multi-tasking skills.

Have the ability to use basic Microsoft software (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).

Have a positive attitude and strong team spirit.

Have experience in nematode cultures, nematode identification, Pseudocercospora isolation and multiplication, weevil sorting on the sexual dimorphism.

Have experience with field/lab data collection.
