Roles and Responsibilities

The Field Operator services support will be responsible for the following:

Apply the emergency response procedure where and when necessary.

Report and close out Unsafe Acts and Unsafe Conditions.

Serves as a permit-to-work signatory and administers safe system of work.

Apply the Health Safety Security and Environment policy, legislations applicable to crude oil transfer and export.

Carry out first line maintenance on pumps, motors, separators, and valves.

Adhere to plant operational procedures.

Start-up and Shutdown of Oil and Gas facilities.

Perform daily first line monitoring of process parameters and variables.

Execute daily communication and Shift handover.

Prepare equipment for maintenance interventions plant isolation etc.

Collaborate with other disciplines to execute planned activities.

Collaborate with Plant operators to execute front line maintenance activities in the plant.

Perform proper housekeeping within the plant.

Serve as focal point for operational registers.

Maintain defective equipment register for plant.

Direct the operation of the vacuum truck.

Work Cycle:

The work location is Bonny Oil and Gas Terminal) accessible via water and Air.

The job activity period is daily on 12-hour (7am to7pm) routine over a 21-day period.

There is a standard 3weeks on and 3weeks off schedule.

The successful candidate will manage own absences with his/her contractor for suitable qualified covers.

There may be need for periodic visits to Shell industrial area for trainings and official assignments.

Minimum Requirements

OND / HND in Sciences / Engineering with 3 - 8 years of work experience as a field operator in an oil and gas facility or SSCE/WAEC with a minimum of 10 years of work experience as a field operator in an oil and gas facility.

Minimum of one year: as a Drains/Front Line Maintenance/Instrument air and fuel gas/Intake operator/Last Line of Defense operations/New process Area operations/water treatment facility/Control Room Operator/Hydrocarbon Oil accountant

Ability to read and interpret process engineering flow schemes (PEFS)

Computer literate with proficiency in Microsoft Office tools (Excel, PowerPoint, and Word)

Problem-solving and good analytical skills.

Basic Knowledge of Terminal Operations

Basic knowledge of Process and Personal Safety

Basic knowledge of Oil recovery operations

Skills:

Control Room Operator:

T_BOSIET certification

Experience in the operation of 3-phase separators, compressors, pumps and other crude oil processing equipment

A good understanding of the working principles of field instrumentation and process automation systems.

Drains:

T_BOSIET certification

IMO leve1, 2 certification

Experience responding to crude oil spills.

Experience in maintenance of hoses.

Experience in the operation of vacuum trucks

Front Line Mtce:

T_BOSIET certification

Experience in the maintenance of hydrocarbon and water processing equipment.

Mechanical discipline bias

Utility – Instrument Air and Fuel Gas:

T_BOSIET certification

Experience in the maintenance of air compressors.

A good understanding of the working principles of field instrumentation and process automation systems.

Intake Operator:

T_BOSIET certification

Experience in offshore operations

Experience in crude oil fiscal measurement activities

Experience in crude oil sampling and collection (handling)

Last Line of Defense:

T_BOSIET certification

Experience responding to crude oil spills.

Experience in maintenance of hoses.

Experience in operation of open drain water treatment facility

New Process Area:

T_BOSIET certification

Experience in maintenance of pumps, manual valves, and sight glass of vessels.

A good understanding of the working principles of field instrumentation and process automation systems.

Utility - Water Treatment System:

T_BOSIET certification

Experience in the maintenance of pumps, sight glass, and valves

A good understanding of the working principles of field instrumentation and process automation systems.

Hydrocarbon Accountant:

T_BOSIET certification

Experience in the preparation of documents for crude oil export

Experience in preparation of visualization report

Soft Skills:

Onsite Hazard identification and Risk assessment capability.

Problem-solving and good analytical skills.

Excellent verbal and oral communication skills

Ability to work in a diverse team.

Self-motivated and performs under minimal supervision.

Ability to trend and analyse data sets.

Ability to understand and perform production operations (volume, pressure) calculation.

Ability to understand units of various variables i.e., pressure, volume, flow rate etc.

Ability to work in a diverse team and with external stakeholders.
