About the Job

As the CFO , your role is to provide strategic financial leadership and guidance to the organization. You will oversee all financial operations, develop and execute effective financial strategies, and ensure the financial stability and compliance.

Your primary purpose is to drive the financial success by efficiently managing financial resources, optimizing financial performance, and mitigating financial risks. Working closely with the Executive Management team, you will play a critical role in shaping the financial strategy, driving growth initiatives, and providing valuable insights and recommendations.

Through your expertise in financial management, analysis, and reporting, you will contribute to the overall success and long-term sustainability of the organization.

Responsibilities

Financial Strategy and Planning:

Develop and execute the overall financial strategy, aligning it with the organizational goals and objectives.

Provide strategic financial guidance and recommendations to the Executive Management.

Conduct financial analysis and forecasting to support strategic decision-making and identify potential risks and opportunities.

Monitor industry trends, market conditions, and regulatory changes to ensure the financial strategy remains aligned with external factors.

Financial Reporting and Compliance:

Oversee the preparation and analysis of financial statements, ensuring accuracy, compliance with accounting standards, and timely reporting.

Implement and maintain internal controls to safeguard financial assets, prevent fraud, and ensure compliance with regulatory requirements.

Coordinate with internal and external auditors to facilitate audits and address any findings or recommendations.

Ensure financial transactions are recorded, documented, and reported in accordance with applicable financial reporting standards and regulations.

Stay updated on financial regulations and legislation, ensuring the company's compliance and mitigating financial risks.

Risk Management:

Identify and assess financial risks, developing risk management strategies and mitigation plans.

Manage and monitor the company's financial risks, including credit risk, market risk, liquidity risk, and operational risk.

Implement risk management frameworks and policies to ensure financial stability and resilience.

Collaborate with other departments to identify and mitigate risks associated with business operations and financial decisions.

Capital Management and Funding:

Develop and implement strategies for capital management, including equity, debt, and financing options.

Evaluate and optimize the capital structure to support growth, profitability, and financial stability.

Manage relationships with financial institutions and investors, negotiating funding terms and maintaining strong banking relationships.

Monitor and analyze financial markets to identify funding opportunities and optimize the company's cost of capital.

Advise executive management on funding strategies, capital allocation, and investment decisions.

Stakeholder Management:

Build and maintain relationships with key stakeholders, including senior management, investors, financial institutions, regulatory bodies and external partners.

Participate in Industry events and engage in continuous learning to stay updated on industry trends, regulations and best practices.

Leadership and Team Management:

Provide leadership and guidance to the finance and accounting team, fostering a culture of high performance and continuous improvement.

Build and develop a strong finance team, ensuring the right talent, skills, and resources are in place.

Promote collaboration and effective communication within the finance function and across other departments

Develop and implement financial policies, procedures, and systems to enhance financial efficiency and effectiveness.

Qualifications & Experience

Minimum of Bachelor's Degree in Finance, Accounting, Business Administration, or a related field.

Master's Degree in Finance, Accounting, Business Administration, or a related field (MBA or similar advanced degree) is an advantage.

Professional certifications include Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) may be beneficial

Membership with professional bodies such as the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Nigeria (ICAN) or the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (ACCA).

Minimum of 15 years of progressive experience in finance and accounting roles, including leadership positions

Experience in financial planning, analysis, and reporting, with a track record of driving financial performance and achieving strategic objectives.

Strong understanding of financial operations, risk management, and internal controls.
