Job Summary
The Biomedical Engineer will be responsible for the maintenance, troubleshooting, and calibration of medical equipment within the Hospital.
The ideal candidate will possess a strong understanding of biomedical technology and its application in a healthcare setting.
They will work closely with medical staff to ensure equipment is safe and operational, contributing to the overall efficiency and effectiveness of our healthcare services.
Key Responsibilities
Perform regular maintenance, testing, and calibration of medical equipment to ensure they meet manufacturer specifications and safety standards.
Troubleshoot and repair malfunctioning medical devices promptly to minimize downtime.
Collaborate with healthcare professionals to understand their equipment needs and provide technical support and training as necessary.
Maintain detailed records of equipment maintenance, repairs, and calibrations.
Ensure compliance with relevant health and safety regulations and standards.
Participate in the procurement process by evaluating and recommending new medical equipment and technologies.
Stay updated on the latest developments in biomedical engineering and incorporate best practices into daily operations.
Conduct regular audits and inspections to ensure all medical equipment is in optimal working condition.
Develop and implement preventive maintenance programs to extend the lifespan of medical equipment.
Provide technical support during the installation and setup of new medical devices.
Coordinate with vendors and manufacturers for equipment servicing and warranty claims.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s Degree in Biomedical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related field.
3-5 years of experience in a similar role within a healthcare environment.
Strong knowledge of medical equipment maintenance and repair.
Proficiency in using diagnostic tools and software for troubleshooting.
Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Knowledge of relevant health and safety regulations and standards.
Preferred Skills:
Certification in biomedical equipment technology.
Experience with healthcare IT systems and electronic health records (EHR).
Familiarity with Nigerian healthcare regulations and standards.
