This is a position that will have an appointment in the NYU Langone Departments of Medicine and Surgery, but report to the NYU Langone Comprehensive Program on Obesity. The applicant will be expected to implement a medical weight management program as well as provide professional medical direction to the NYU Langone- Brooklyn Bariatric Surgery program.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

Clinical: - 80% Time Dedicated:

  • Provide medical expertise with respect to:
    • Implementing and maintaining medical weight management program suited to the population of the appointed clinic locations (NYU Langone- Brooklyn, among potential others).
    • Planning and establishing goals and policies to improve medical weight management.
  • Serve as a resource for outpatient nutritional and medical weight management for NYU Brooklyn post- bariatric surgery patients
  • Collaborate with other NYU Langone Health weight management practices to ensure best practices are being offered.
  • Overseeing periodic evaluations of medical records to ensure that documentation meets requirements for teaching, compliance and reimbursement.
  • Participation in network development and expansion in local and regional markets.
  • Design and present didactic sessions as needed while serving as faculty for medical students, residents, and obesity medicine fellows.
    Scholarly Endeavors through the NYU Langone CPO: 20% Time Dedicated:
  • Design and participate in obesity-related education, research and/or scholarship based on interests and skills. This may include designing and evaluating clinical care pathways for obesity, obesity-related clinical trials, and/or designing and evaluating obesity-related curricula for healthcare providers.
  • Design and present didactic sessions as needed while serving as faculty for medical students, residents, and obesity medicine fellows.
  • Overseeing periodic evaluations of medical records to ensure that documentation meets requirements for teaching, compliance and reimbursement.
  • Participation in network development and expansion in local and regional markets.
  • 20% of time will be dedicated to the Comprehensive Program for Obesity (CPO)

REQUIREMENTS:

Current NYS Medical License

Current Board Certification

Preferred: Diplomate of American Board of Obesity Medicine or equivalent experience

Fluency in Spanish
